And here it comes (carbon fee)

Mass. Governor proposes adding $2 'carbon fee' to airport parking.
The carbon fee, described on page 137 of Patrick's 141-page bill, would that mean a 20- or 30-minute trip to pick up a relative at Logan could cost $6 in parking alone, not including tunnel tolls, which could rise to as much as $7 if legislators fail to pass Patrick's other proposal to raise the gas tax. Three hours in a Logan garage would cost $18: all-day parking in a garage would run $26.
Our city council tried the hotel tax route. I am glad it failed.
Now there is a new cash grab route for some.
Thompson manitoba tried to lay a whole new group of taxes on to the fine people in that town. A dining tax etc. I used to think the feds should let Provinces and Cities have more taxing powers.
Nope not after seeing what the mayors and Govenors of US states can come up with- NOOOOPE
My point here is- we are going to see a rash of Green taxes and consumption taxes kick in. Thats fair- but - the Federal Gov should keep that power and ignore the chirping that the cities/provinces get first crack at the coin.
- the tax powers of the Feds should stay where it is.
