Power of the Media
3/4/2009 at 4:18 PM
After talking with various people it seems that the media has some major influence when it comes to people. We were talking about this slump or recession that the world is in. The more the media focuses on the negative and "the end still isn't here" attitude, people clam up and start panicing. They withhold their spending as they don't know what is happening. Right now is a buyers market. With loans and housing at an all time low this is perfect for people to make a move. But with the media saying it could be years till we even see a glimmer of hope, people resist. Look at gas, if they say oil looks to be on the rise everyone rushes out to the pumps to save 2 cents a litre on gas. Sure it climbs but then the oil companies say that demand jumped, wonder why, media? In the month of Jan. there was a 4% increase in people spending. Was that posted in all papers say hurray!!! Nope all posted was bad times still in future. If the media said Brandon was losing 1/2 the doctors there would be a flood of appointments to see the doctor even if nothing was wrong. Maybe if media focused on positives it would lead us in a better direction....thoughts????
