Reasons for Afghanistan

This is a break off from another thread, and I'm pretty sure it's been gone over in other threads already, but here goes again.
Swansong said:"If you would prefer to ignore the fact that 16 of the 19 hijackers (several of whom are still mysteriously alive) were actually Saudis...not Afghanis or Iraqis...Or that Pakistan harbors many of the people we are searching for...then perhaps you should do that in another thread."
They may have been Saudi in origin, but they were not envoys of the Saudi government. They were Al-Qaeda operatives, and Al-Qaeda was operating openly in Afghanistan in co-operation with the Taliban. Comments like the above just make the speaker look stupid and ignorant or deliberately biased towards defending Al-Qaeda.
If you have a neat list of which hijackers are still mysteriously alive please bring them forward, that'd be most interesting. Even the Al-Qaeda leaders that took credit for planning the attacks referred to the fact the operatives behind obviously died in the attacks.
