Wow, didn't think it was this bad. An interview with Major General Antonio Taguba, who conducted the Abu Garib investigation, reveals the following:
'At least one picture shows an American soldier apparently raping a female prisoner while another is said to show a male translator raping a male detainee'
'Among the graphic statements, which were later released under US freedom of information laws, is that of Kasim Mehaddi Hilas in which he says: “I saw [name of a translator] ******* a kid, his age would be about 15 to 18 years. The kid was hurting very bad and they covered all the doors with sheets. Then when I heard screaming I climbed the door because on top it wasn’t covered and I saw [name] who was wearing the military uniform, putting his **** in the little kid’s ***…. and the female soldier was taking pictures.” '

The Pres is quoted as saying, in regards to the blocked photos: “I want to emphasise that these photos that were requested in this case are not particularly sensational, especially when compared to the painful images that we remember from Abu Ghraib.”
So what do you folks think about Obama's decision to block the release of these photos?
IMO, he HEAVILY understated how 'sensational' these photos could be. Boarder line lying, except that he wasn't specific enough to lie directly. However, he might have a point. Releasing these photos would cause a s?%tstorm of unprecedented proportions in Iraq, Afghanistan, and around the Muslim world (For good reason). I don't know, I'm almost leaning towards agreeing with him, but how can we be sure these perpetrators and those commanding officers condoning these actions ever get Justice if we don't know who they are?
