In an era when an 18 year old girl is not allowed to bring her same sex partner to her High School Prom it is nice to see Archie comics FINALLY embracing the real world by introducing an openly gay character ...  
 
According to cbc.ca the Veronica title will introduce a gay character to the Riverdale community, who makes the admission to Jughead, who begins plotting to embarass Veronica with this revelation.  
 
I think it's great - and hopefully Kevin Keller won't experience the corporate rethink that Canadian superhero Northstar did in 1992 when following his admission of being gay was forced by a backlash from comic book readers to recant his admission and the whole episode was explained away as a mystical-virus illness thing that was from mythical Asgaard and didn't mean he was gay despite protests from Northstar's creator ...  
 
I have never been an Archie fan - but this plunge into reality impresses me greatly ... I'm sure others will think otherwise and the Riverdale gang will face harsh judgement from some corners of our society ...  
 
Come to think of it - I can even see Phelps and his Westboro crew standing outside 7/11s and comic shops everywhere with signs proclaiming "God hates Archie" !!!
