wal-mart super centres
4/23/2010 at 6:01 PM
They just announced that Winnipeg will get two wal-mart Super centres( full grocery selection etc ). The latest news on that is Safeway is dropping prices before they arrive.
That reminded myself about my thoughts on the Brandon Wal-mart. They were going to expand a couple of years ago but did not.
There is no doubt in my mind that either the store set up is wrong or it has out grown its store.
I have yet to go into that store and not find areas where you can not shop as stock waiting to be put away blocks the section!
In other areas the centre aisle is like three million miles long as each "break" where you normally could cross is plugged with stock waiting to be put away.
Wal-mart is not married to anyone location in any city it operates in. It will move if need be. I am wondering if they are due for a expansion ( I think so) If so is there room?? I heard the last expansion was due at 30,000 sq feet.
Could Brandon support a Super centre?? Will the current size plus expansion be good enough for one??
Location change?? We all know traffic follows Wal-mart!
All I know well okay feel is Wal-mart is leaving money( profits/sales) on the table in the current store. Shrink wrapped product not on the shelf make zero sales.
Product that is not accessible because it is blocked makes zero sales.
Anybody heard of any unannounced plans??
