Cops and Kids
6/4/2009 at 4:20 PM
Yesterday afternoon the cops had been at an apartment in my building and when they were done was right around the time my daughter, who is 3 1/2, got dropped off from preschool. When I got her the two Brandon Police Officers were standing on our walkway talking amongst themselves and as myself and my daughter started to talk towards the door to go inside #1 they wouldn't move off the walkway we had to go around them 2) my daughter was clinging as tightly as she could to my leg and hand scared..I was telling her loud enough for the guys to hear me that she doesn't need to be afraid of them that their here to help her and that their nice and whatever else I could think of to make her not scared of them..I thought that they would notice she was scared as they did look at us as we were walking and I thought they would say something to her to try to make her a bit less scared but instead they stood in our way with their arms across their chest and to be honest I was almost scared of them too with the way they looked. And I do know that some kids are scared of people in uniforms but I also thought that they would try to make kids as comfortable as they could and not scared of them..but I guess I was wrong.
I may be over reacting but had to get this off my chest and see what other people think.
