Posted pictures of some spherical things I found on a tree in our yard. Are they mushrooms? They seem harder then that. They seem like engorged ticks but I know they aren’t, just what they look like. Some are really small, others larger like the picture...

Could it be an insect egg of some kind? I can't say I've ever seen anything like that before. What kind of tree is it on?

Try Googling "emerald ash borer egg". Is that maybe it?

How big are they (possible for a pic with something like a coin in the shot for scale)?

What kind of tree (maybe someone more astute than I can tell from the bark?) are there the same species trees in the area that are or aren’t seeing the same thing?

Is it a spot that gets sun at any point in the day?

Not saying I have the answer but maybe some of this info helps jar something!

Coral Spot Fungus?

Looks like it could coral spot fungus/canker. You can google that for additional info and images.

I think it might be coral spot! It definitely matches the best. It makes sense since it is actually a dead tree that needs to be finished cut down. I’m not sure the type of tree. In the picture, those ones are the size of a quarter, some are pea sized but I didn’t take pictures of those ones.

Looks like we’ll be getting someone to come get rid of it right away to prevent further spreading.
