I want to put some trees for privacy along my fence. I am looking for a slender type tree (not bushy) that does not grow more than 12-15 feet tall. I want one that does not have roots that take over the place as the trees will be planted in a flower garden. Ideas???

Go down to the green spot on Rosser East, I'm sure they will point you in the right direction.

Deer ate most of them and winter kill got the rest.

Google privacy trees. You will get a couple different links to go through. But it could help you narrow down what you want.... but from what I found, this sounds like what you are wanting.

Cedars prefer a shady area and do get winter kill. I have been looking into an evergreen not for shelter or privacy but for colour in a flower bed in the winter. The Medora Jupiter is supposed to maintain its pyramid shape with little need for pruning and it likes full sun. It grows up to 12-15 feet.  
 
If I were you I’d go ask who is the tree experts at either the Green Spot or Alternative Landscaping locates on Patricia south of Brandon on 34th st. And talk with that person. They should be able to give some good options.
