Anyone know what these things are??? They eat leaves & poop on everything!!!

Achemon Sphinx caterpillar, and eventually Achemon Sphinx moth. Big suckers that really love our grape leafs...

That’s what we concluded. We had them around our yard too. We would also like to know for sure if anyone else knows for sure.

Probably Swallowtail species.

Find a tupperware or container, punched light small holes in top, put in paper towels scrunched/shredded and possibly a couple of short pieces of twig for them to cocoon in and keep outdoors in a sheltered shed where they will stay cold but not smothered in snow or rain.

They are Hornworms and will burrow into soil to pupate so put them in a tub with some dryish soil or peat and keep outside in garage or porch (unheated).

We have scooped at least one a day from the pool over the past 2 weeks. There aren’t any trees overhead so they either are good crawlers or fly in the breeze!

Still going strong... plucked this guy off of a young vine after noticing it had devoured 90% of the leafs. Hoping late enough in the season that it wont matter!
