I would like to start cantaloupe, watermelon, and marigold flowers inside...when is a good time to start them...I don't want to start too early or too late. thanks

thanks for the link for Schellenberg's but the list does not show cantaloupe, watermelon, and I couldn't find a link on their website for flowers. (marigolds)

I would think it’s plenty early to start cantaloupe and watermelon. I wouldn’t plant them out in my garden until mid June at the earliest without protection. I would wait to sow indoors until May .

What you are looking for are Melons which do show on the list.

Did you buy the seeds in packets? It will tell you right on the packet how many weeks before last frost to start your seeds (or under what conditions to sow them outdoors).  
 
Our last frost typically early June or so. We're more or less in the 10 weeks before last frost window right now. So typically peppers, many flowers, some long-season tomatoes and many herbs.  
 
Many hardier plants from the melon/squash/curbit family only need 4 weeks, but there's a fair amount of variation. Lots need 6 or more if they're for a longer growing season (some have short maturity dates and can be started later).  
 
What does the packet say? Or Google the specific variety.
