Hi I'm just wondering if anyone on ebrandon has a sandpoint well in the Riverheights area. I hit water after digging a hole with auger and extensions and then installed the sand point but it doesn't seem to recharge. Fast enough. What I am wondering really is if you have a point how deep is it. I'm wondering if maybe I needed to go deeper.

We use sandpoints for all water in our area. I live on an acreage and actually use two different sand points for water. When I built my house I decided where I wanted my sandpoint and simply pounded one in. I found I got lucky. I decided I wanted a second point to water my yard and garden. I used an auger and tried several holes before I found suitable formations for water.  
 
In our area there are clay banks. I drilled a hole and could see water running but the sandpoint would not pull water up. I eventually when 100 feet out from my house before I found a suitable spot. I can run three sprinklers and have adequate water supply. The other locations either would not yield enough or any water.  
 
There are some who use green willow or wire clothes hangers to locate suitable streams. I have never been able to do it but friends used this system to find where the water is. possibly you are in an area where there is no stream

Did do the wire trick, managed to find a few spots in the yard with water. There seemed to be significant water when the hole was dug but maybe you are right and I am off the stream.

you are not deep enough, you have to have 3 feet of water above the top of your sandpoint.  
Measure with a weighted line, tie a fairly large nut or a half a dozen washers onto the line. Lower it in a jerking motion until you hear a distinctive "plop", mark your line, then keep lowering the line till you feel it hit the bottom of the point. minus your point 24" or 36" and figure the amount of water you have.  
remember that you can not lift water more than 25 feet.

Will cross for a distance of up to 10 feet but that doesn't mean you can auger down any where within that 10 feet. In riverheights area depth is around 18 feet to hit water and if using a 24" sandpoint drive it so the top is anywhere from a foot to 11/2 feet below whre you hit the water. Before I almost gave up after many holes I moved over about 1 foot and now have a well that will pump all day. Thare are areas though In Riverheights that you will hit water but never have enough to keep the pump going.

Thanks maybe the issue is I'm not deep enough. I am about 16 feet deep with my sand point. I have water about 1 foot above the sand points my sand point is longer than 36" so I have about 5 feet of water inside the point itself.

above the top of your sandpoint is NOT enough, you will draw that down in less hhan a half hour and then you will be sucking air. Most places you need min 2 feet and better if you have 3 feet. Does not matter what you have in your point it is how deep into the water you are  
pound it down 2 more feet and you should be okay.

Ok thanks for the info I was debating on pulling the point up but maybe I will pound it deeper into the soil. I can hear the system

Depends whether you are in the stream. You can drive it to far and then you are stuck in clay. The water runs on top of a clay bed. In Riverheights area it is not as though you are on top of a large lake and can pound it in anywhere and get lots of water. As I previously said the coat hangers give an indication the stream is about 10 feet wide, the key is to get in the middle of the stream and even if you are only a foot below the water table you will have enough to run the sand point just don''t pound it to far and drive it through the clay bed or you will get nothing. It can be very frustrating and some times you will hit it the first time.

I have decided to pull the point up and check it to make sure all is still in good condition. And then try again maybe not goin as deep as I was before to start and then slowly going deeper, and yes it is very frustrating.
