Best Greenhouse In Town?

With Patmore Nursery closing last year, where does everyone buy their plants now? Are any of the local options, Green Spot or Alternative any better than just buying from Home Depot or Canadian Tire?

I like to visit each one of them, they all seem to have slightly different selection etc. But I guess it depends what you are after.

I have had the best luck with plants from Superstore.

On the plus side, especially with tomato plants, they are already hardened off

Yes, Superstore usually has a pretty decent selection and price and Canadian Tire, Home Depot and Walmart are good too. I went to Alternative the other day and can't justify paying $5 or more, plus tx on a single annual plant like an impatiens. I do about 10 planters every year with 5 to 6 plants in each so at those prices it can add up pretty fast.

The green spot is my favorite, but also we go to Home Depot and Wal-Mart! Cant wait to plant this year!!

to Souris & visit Sadler's Creekside Greenhouse. Absolutely beautiful & friendly, helpful staff. I try to visit all the places in Brandon but I do love Sadler's.

Alternative Choice Garden Center

Alternative Choice Garden Center !!They have 2 locations, their main location at 34th & Patricia and the Hill Location by Montery Estates. Both have huge selections and great prices. 6 pack of annuals and vegtables for only $3.99. Definitely need to check them out.

Couple years ago, I saw Green Spot delivering to Canadian Tire. I don't know if Green Spot still supplies Canadian Tire or not though.

Our yard is a potpourri of Alternative, Canadian Tire, Green Spot and Patmore (RIP).
Hard to beat Green Spot for selection + knowledge of local growing zone but still usually find myself looking at other options first because of the 50% warranty (on trees at least which is what I mostly work with). Got some great quality stuff from Canadian Tire around this time last year that came via Bylands of Kelowna.

You sometimes have to do your homework with the big boxes, have caught more than one of them in the past selling trees that simply arent intended to survive long-term in our zone. I guess if there's a 1 year guarantee you just swap it for something different after it doesnt make winter but there are some trees that just shouldn't be sold in this market.
Interested to see what Alternative's doing with the second location. FWIW I was told that Peavey Mart has plans for some kind of garden centre type of setup.

Case in point re out of zone stuff for sale.... one big box in town has a multi graft tree right now of Rainier, Bing and Lapin cherries. Great gift if you happen to have a friend in the Okanagan
Another is selling a blueberry variety with zone 5 right on the label as the coldest it's meant to handle.
