I've sent this text to 3 companies in Brandon and I've yet to hear anything back from them.  
 
The text begins here: I want to plant some shrubs though I am not quite sure what would suit my property. My modular home faces the west and I want these shrubs planted in a row extending about 125 feet on the north and 125 feet on the south side of the home. I have removed the sod through the entire length with the width measuring about a 12 to 15 inches. These 2 rows of the yard measure about 6 inches deep. I would need some good mixed soil to fill and I want the trees planted. Can I have someone examine the area and have them determine what type and how many shrubs could be planted in these 2 areas, how much soil mix I'd need to mound about 3 inches above the opening and for the service to do the placement of the shrubs. Suggestions for shrubs are cotoneaster, lilac or barberry. Thank you.

Texting businesses? My advice is call them or go to the business in person. I've never dealt with any business who do work via text messaging.

Call them or visit them. They're swamped this time of year, and if you want results you'll need to bug them a bit. I'm also unaware of any businesses that do "business" by text unless it's an established relationship (i.e. you've already hired them, etc).  
 
I think what the OP is looking for is a quote? Try landscaping places like Alternative Landscaping.

I think your best bet would be to go in person. I've had great luck talking to the staff at Green Spot or Alternative, very helpful advice. If you want them to come to you and do an estimate type service phone them or visit them in person.

That 1st step connection isn't really professional route to do on either side (you towards a business or a business towards you).  
Also you do not know what you want and if you will get them for sure to do it plus those businesses are busy and be more busy that summer is coming. Think of it in their position you would probably acted the same as they did after all businesses advertise their ad by displaying to contact them by their address, phone number, and email but I haven't seen an ad saying text us.

Are you sure that you sent a text to a cell phone and not a landline number? That being said, a lot of Brandon businesses seem to think it's still 1995. I have not had much success emailing businesses, but ones in Winnipeg were much more responsive to the same email.

That post reads a lot like, "we want somebody to come out and give their professional advice/opinion but we will do the work ourselves". Maybe that's not the case and you want to hire the company but in all honesty that's how the text reads to me. So as a company I maybe wouldn't respond to that. That's the downfall of texting - maybe you are willing to pay for their services but it's so easy to misinterpret a text. Best bet would be to call or talk to somebody in person.

They tent to respond quickly in my experience, and though I've never used them for planting (but I did see a Mothers Day Shrub promotion, so I assume it'd be something they do) they seem very to know their stuff about maintaining trees n shrubs from our experience.

As posed above, your text makes it sound like your wanting professional advice for free. Best bet is to go in person to inquire or call.
