I heard there is a Rib fest going on at the Keystone Aug 17-19th this year. Is there any more info on it?

There's some more at the FB link below. 3 trucks, free entry, looks like it starts at 11am each of Fri, Sat, Sun. Really enjoyed it last year and looking forward to seeing what the setup's like in using the Keystone this year. Any specific other questions you're wanting to have answered?

Isnt the Keystone Centre a non profit organization also? Sounds like it is a joint effort between Rotary and the Keystone, both awesome non profit organizations, so it shouldn't matter which beer tent you drink at! You would be supporting the community either way.

Than Winnipeg. Yes it’s for a good cause, but it’s the same organization that puts on Wpg’s event.

It’s a great event with great food, but I hate being gouged.

FYI - Brandon’s attendance was almost double Winnipeg’s 2017 numbers and it was 3 times the 2016 attendance for Winnipeg.

Wife was just there, no line ups right now and no brisket either. Shipment did not make it on time. Not sure about the rest of the weekend though. Lots of music and similar prices to last year. Have fun and enjoy everyone, my food is waiting for me at home..

Just came back from ribfest had the pulled pork and rib combo for $19 from the silver bullet barbeque outfit . Excellent food would feed two people easily. I only got halfway through it and I can eat with the best of them . Heat the rest of it up tomorrow I guess . Lineups are fairly slow but it’s worth it in the end . Took my order to the beer tent had a couple of beers and listened to some music. A good day out . Recommend it. You don’t eat that kind of food every day anyway so it was a nice treat .

they would not allow smoked and abused in on this event pretty poor attitude on the part of organization and worse if it was because of other partisipants wanting to keep them out

so what you think because they don't have a brick and mortar restaurant they cant or don't know how to bbq ribs? as you said it is a competition l. is more competition not better than excluding competitors

We love the food at silver bullet, the mac n cheese is a huge hit in our family. We fed 4 of us for $48. Honestly the prices are pretty reasonable. It usually costs us $90 or more to eat at a restaurant. We will definitely be going back to try the other trucks tomorrow .

My wife & I went for supper on Friday. We spent $34.00 on our meal at Silver Bullet, plus $6.00 on 2 bottles of Pepsi. In total, we spent $40.00. Both of us were stuffed, & we brought what we could not finish home with us for lunch tomorrow.

Had a little of Texas and a little of Crabbys. Both excellent. Only room for improvement is the kids area. Last year there was a bouncy castle or two, this year (or this afternoon at least?) three people that would run around in a fenced off area with your kid and play with a ball while parents go to beer gardens?

Kudos to all who do their part to bring this kind of thing to town. These are the kind of outdoor events that a guy looks back on in the depths of winter and look forward to the next summer!

Thankfully Crabbys (the ONLY vendor of the three to carry brisket)didn't run out of product this year (or at least still had brisket as of 5:00 p.m. Saturday.) Personally I'd like to see the focus on barbequed meat in general, not just ribs. Considering how successful it has become after only two years, I'd love to see twice the number of vendors next year, I'm sure that people will continue to flock to the event; we just aren't exposed to Southern style dishes living in Manitoba. I have yet to try chicken & waffles (sounds bizarre, but I hear it's good) or a traditional Louisiana craw fish boil. The culinary bucket list still has a few "to do's" on it.

Well this year was my first year and I had a half rack at Silver Bullet and it was tasty with that BBQ zing. I’d like to see prices equally distributed though, something like where you could get a 1/3 rack for $8. That way for $24 you can try all of the 3 and take the rest home. $24 seemed about right for a full rack from the menus. It was hard for a single person to come and enjoy the festivities and the voting when the prices didn’t really allow you to try all 3. So I went with the one that had the most “judge’s choice” awards and that was Silver Bullet. I didn’t vote because I didn’t think it was fair to vote when I only tried one.

This morning they said that last year the attendance was approx 15,000 and even though all the numbers were added up yet that they expected it to be over 20,000 awesome!

What are you expecting for smoked meat ? Venison ? Fish ? Lamb ? Dog ?
There was brisket, ribs, pulled pork, chicken..
And bdn438 You mean you never heard of anyone who was not impressed!!
At least 15,000 people were impressed enough to go back this year..

We went with a bunch of friends. We went to the 3 different places and shared. It was determined that each one of these ribber places had really good ribs. Thanks to the organizers, it’s a good day out and so much fun.

Six of us went, we all had ribs from Texas Rangers and everyone commented how good they were. Guess you can’t please everyone lol

Average at best. Ribs were fatty. Chicken was dried out. Pulled pork and Beans were good though.

I really enjoyed Texas Rangers. I am not a bean lover but really enjoyed their beans! Tried Silver Bullets too and not as good in my opinion. I think it was a great evening and something different offered in Brandon. I also think these 3 travel all around together so if you have too many vendors than it gets washed up and each truck still needs to make money. Having the smaller food truck vendors there defeats the purpose. That is what the Food Truck Wars are for! Excited for those. Plus you saw the chip truck and a small hot dog vendor off to the side but again that wasn't what Rib Fest is about
