I think sells dairyland

Most milk sold in Canada is from multinational corporations, but the milk in the bottle is from Canadian farms.  
 
Almond Milk - Not frickin' milk, almonds do not lactate.

Suggestion would be if you don't like what Walmart is doing, tell them. They have that internet survey going continuosly and it is supposedly done right here in Brandon, or so I was told. Tell Walmart that you want them to sell Dairyland and support our local product/industry. Myself, I will buy local, but I also need a good price. I am willing to pay a bit more, but not a whole lot more.  
 
I didn't used to buy Lucerne because it always seemed to spoil sooner, but I think that may have been because Safeway used to have open coolers, no doors. When I buy it at Sobey's it seems to keep better. I can remember when Superstore sold Foremost milk and I also remember being able to buy Manco and Silverwoods milk at several stores too. Not sure what happened to Foremost and Silverwoods, but I think Manco somehow evolved into Dairyland.  
 
Anyway, if you want Walmart to sell Dairyland, tell them.

It is a business decision. Just maybe as much as we like dairyland it could be a cost driven decision?  
 
Milk for some stores is not a loss leader. They need it less as a draw but to make money while having it. Just possibly Wal mart is doing both. Quality costs money but few will pay a premium for it. Wal mart is there on price(draw). Carrying milk is a draw. Quality should be a draw but not worth it as a loss leader. My bet is dairlyland is too pricey for them.  
 
Wal mart probably takes care of FiFo. First in first out. They probably pay the piper of spoilage instead of dairyland. They may do the shelf stocking instead of the dairies. All kinds of Costs Wal mart may or may not take on that dairies did or do. It could be simply as delivery times etc not being to Wal marts liking. Kickbacks? Kickbacks on the national stage.  
Last no matter the price sold to wal mart maybe all companies could be available but know one wants to  
pay for shelf space as is done in the grocery business.  
 
 
Soda pop and potato chips are a competitive businesses.In spite of controlled prices so is milk.

Around a month ago, just before the US and Canada had an agreemen,a litre of buttermilk at Sobeys South jumped from $2.59 to $2.79. A 4 litre milk took the jump the same day.  
I am curious as to why because I was led to believe that the Canadian Dairy farmers knew their prices were high but still wanted protection from competition.  
Why then?

Back 40 years ago when Manco and Modern Dairies took milk to SW Manitoba stores the price was fixed at 2 cents mark up!!  
If skim was 51 cents cost you were only allowed to sell for 53 cents and you were required to not only pay the hydro, the floor space but the cooler and maintenace as well. How did they get away with it? Heck if I know but they knew you needed milk to run a grocery store.  
Here''s a question I''ll throw out. I have read that half of the dairy industry is protected and growing in Quebec. Is ALL of our milk for milk and dairy products in Brandon produced in Manitoba?

I don’t think your looking in the next cooler. Every Sunday I buy Dairy Land milk at Sobeys ..... and I shop at both....

I’ll agree that meat prices are high, did a quick check of pig prices in Alberta, which is one of the easier places to get prices, and the price to producers are lower than a year ago, around 1.26 per kg, don’t think it is cheaper for the consumer though.  
Beef prices maybe have a cost that few of us realize, cattle that are finished for slaughter, end up making a trip to Alberta to be processed, then make a trip back here as retail cuts, two freight costs involved. I never compared beef prices to last year, but think that producer prices are lower and retail prices are higher.  
We get our milk in Souris, and it is dairyland and is all right.

You can get Dairyland at Safeway too, just smaller area to the right of the Lucerne milk. It is slightly higher priced than Lucerne, but I find Lucerne goes off before the date on the package so I buy only Dairyland. The price the farmer gets for milk, pork or beef isn't going up it is the processors, transportation and retail that edges the prices up. Tighter regulations and feed shortages have increased the cost of production for the farmers but the price they receive for their product hasn't increased. However the consumer assumes it's the farmer that drives the prices, not the case. All Dariyland milk is produced in Manitoba, please support our local farmers as much as you can. I buy my meat from a local family owned and operated butcher shop (Henry Meats), I know it is all local and because it is purchased right from the farmer it is cheaper than store bought , cuts out the big transportation costs and more reasonable processing fee.
