I’ll agree that meat prices are high, did a quick check of pig prices in Alberta, which is one of the easier places to get prices, and the price to producers are lower than a year ago, around 1.26 per kg, don’t think it is cheaper for the consumer though.
Beef prices maybe have a cost that few of us realize, cattle that are finished for slaughter, end up making a trip to Alberta to be processed, then make a trip back here as retail cuts, two freight costs involved. I never compared beef prices to last year, but think that producer prices are lower and retail prices are higher.
We get our milk in Souris, and it is dairyland and is all right.
