    Does anyone have any info about the Paradise Island Curry House Bar and Grill on Rosser? It says Indian and Mauritian food. What is Mauritian food? How is this restaurant compared to Chili Chutney?

    It apparently opened on Saturday. Best way to know would be to go downtown and have lunch, no? What have you got to lose?

    Other Mauritanian restaurants

    Dodo in the City Centre is also Mauritanian, there was also one in the Knight’s Inn that may still be open. The one Dodo meal that I recall being Mauritanian was the upside down noodle bowl: sort of a stir-fry with an egg on top.

    Will be headed there this week to try. Will report back.  
     
    Mauritian food bears some resemblance to Indian food because Mauritius itself has over 50% population with Indian roots. That being said there are still differences in the cuisine due to the demographical variety. Indian, Creole, French and Chinese influence can be seen in Mauritian cuisine.

    Just a clarification...Mauritius and Mauritania are not the same places. The Brandon restaurants are Mauritian. Mauritius, though tiny, is multicultural. The late Dr Tang Wai was Mauritian, Chinese being one of many cultures found there. Some Mauritian dishes are similar to some from parts of India, but it depends on the people's ethnicity, I would say.
