I’m looking to buy a new coffee travel mug (the size around 20oz or bigger). Looking for it to keep the coffee hot for a decent length of time, lid to be spill/ leak proof, fit in a cup holder, etc. Even better if the price is a good value! Any suggestions? The brand doesn’t matter as much as a good thermos that will last and not break easy.

I have had good results from Contigo. My husband has a Yeti which he is very pleased with.

Do you know which yeti he has? Does it fit in a cupholder?

I have a Stanley from Mark's. Its light green outside, stainless on inside. Lid comes apart to 3 pieces so it's easy to clean. It has no problem keeping my coffee hot all day. Fits in a cupholder too. My wife got a yeti rambler for Christmas and it keeps stuff hot like you wouldnt believe, looking at $30-40 either way though.

I got my husband a small (12 oz) Bubba from CTire on sale for about $17. There is a larger sized one available too. It is stainless on the inside and has a wide rubber grip around the middle on the outside. He says it's the best coffee thermos he's ever had. It keeps hot drinks hot for 5 or 6 hours, even when it is sitting on the cold floor of the ice fishing shack. (He used to use Contiga) I have a Starbucks stainless/metal one and it only keeps my drink hot for about one hour.

I use the Contigo Autoseal 20 oz travel mug. I literally throw that thing into my work bag upside down or sideways and never has it spilled a drop. Mind you, I am careful to click the lock button.  
It stays hot for as long as I will use it. Never actually tested it. I just know that boiling water will be too hot to drink 4 hours later. Coffee from the coffee pot (which isn't super hot) is still the same temperature at coffee break as it was at 4am.  
I never would have actually bought one myself, but it was a gift from my sister. Now, I seriously doubt I will buy a different brand if I can help it.  
And yes, it does fit in a cup holder if the cup holder is designed to take the different size cups that you get from fast food places. Most vehicles nowadays have adjustable cup holders. But my daughter's 2000 Cavelier will only fit this cup in the console cup holder, not the front cup holders. But I don't really worry about it, because it can be thrown sideways on the seat and not spill.  
The price runs around $40. They come on sale at CT fairly often. Or if you end up in the town of Hamiota, MB, the gas station TJ's sells them for way less than CT.

Within the past year I purchased my mug, it has a spill somewhat proof lid, it depends on height of drop. But I love it! Keeps my coffee warm for 8 or more hours. I can buy Timmies on my way to work and when I’m leaving work 8.5hrs later, it’s still quite warm.

I have a Contigo and a Yeti and I use my Contigo all the time. I find with the contigo my coffee is still warm at 5pm and I make it at 6:30am (yes i drink my coffee slow) and with my yeti, I make the coffee at 6:30am and by 11am its getting luke warm and by 5pm its tossed out cause its cold.

As mentioned above doesnt keep coffee hot near as long as many other much cheaper options. Also my lid has never sealed great from the start. If cup is full with lid closed in vehicle and you hit a bump coffee starts leaking out through the hole you drink from all over the top of cup and often out of cup if bump is bad enough.

That’s not good! What kind of yeti and lid are you using?

Good to know! Canadian Tire’s website has been down for days so haven’t been able to search them yet.

My husband and I got Thermos coffee travel mugs at Christmas and it is the best I have ever had. My husband is a slow coffee drinker and he drinks his all day long and it’s still warm. They are a bit pricier but you definitely get value for your dollar
