Has anyone attended the Food Truck Warz this evening, and if so were the vendors/people preparing the food wearing masks?

Are they checking if you are fully vaccinated ? If so, can we ask them to show proof if they are fully vaccinated as well specially the ones who prepares the food. Just a thought .

Those preparing food will not be required just as those working restaurants dont have to be while patrons do have to be. Its ass backwards yes but the way it goes unfortunately.

Do you know if any of the vendors were wearing masks? I realize they do not need proof of vaccination, similar to restaurant staff, but you see a lot of restaurant staff wearing masks at work, just wondering if this was what food truck venders were doing as well?

I looked it up because I waa curious. Employees in a restaurant do need to wear masks unless they are behind a impermeable barrier and working solo. I worked in kitchens for years in my youth, and it would be virtually impossible to not be required to mask.  
 
As for the food trucks, I guess if they're working solo and have a barrier they don't technically would have to. I'm unclear if it's considered indoors or outdoors, as masks are only required indoors from what I understand. I would presume inside the trailer would be indoors, so if more than 1 person was working, they would have to mask.

The post they were responding to was taking about vaccination, so I believe their response was in reference to vaccination being required for workers

there's a photo in today's edition of the Brandon Sun showing one of the vendors dishing out a dish and he's not wearing a mask.

I noticed this summer no one in food trucks were wearing masks, everytime tho I was asking myself on WTF not! There is never just one person in these trucks, typically its 2-4 people and they are all breathing right on your food (not intentionally obviously) but its such a tiny space in a hot quick environment, they should be wearing a mask!! I will be at food truck warz tonight but I will only buy food from food trucks that are wearing masks, if that means I leave hungry well I guess I got out of the house atleast.

the food truck warz, everyone attending has to be double vaccinated. So there's less risk of getting covid and being seriously ill? Maybe a question for public health?

We went last night and bought food from 4 different trucks.  
I honestly didn't even notice if the vendors were wearing masks or not..if I absolutely had to decide I would say that 3/4 were.  
 
Very very few patrons were wearing masks. Obviously a lot were sitting and eating/drinking but even walking around, standing in line, etc. there were not many masks.

That picture turned my stomach. No mask, no gloves, serving food. UGH.

What did you have? Favourites so far?

I had the loaded hotdog from the Just Loaded truck. It was not worth the money. It tasted good but was exactly the same hotdog and bun that you'd get from Sobeys so not very impressive for $5  
 
I also had a poutine from the Euro Donair truck. Fries were good, shredded mozza and way too much gravy, the fries were literally floating in it. But it tasted good! My boyfriend had a burger from this truck and enjoyed it. Someone we were with got a donair from this truck and said it was amazing!  
 
We also got an order of the deep fried cheese curds and they were good!  
 
We also got a beavertail and it was really good but a little overpriced for the size.  
 
Two other people we were with got from the KYU Grill and were really impressed. A type of chicken wrap and fries.  
 
Another person we were with got from Willey's Grub Hub and really enjoyed it! I think it was a pulled pork wrap.  
 
I didn't see the Indigenous Eats truck there and was disappointed, I really wanted to try something from there. Hoping by Saturday they are there so we can try!  
 
We didn't have any intention of going on rides last night but thought we might on Saturday. Was a little disappointed to see how few rides there were especially with the announcement of a "full midway".

Thank you for sharing your experiences. I will be going this afternoon and your tastings sound like it was fun times. Good to have options like this in Brandon once in a while.

Are vendors at the market and employees in the food trucks as well as the carnies that operate the rides that came from the United states (assumed in the last few days), are they all vaxinated? I would like it if someone could confirm if they are all being checked as well.

Looks like I'll be getting a poutine elsewhere. The king isn't only truck around. I'm not gonna give any truck my money that can't be bothered with a mask.

That’s where you got to trust your vaccine I guess. I had African samosas and cassava fries. Loved it. You can sit in a restaurant any time. Something different is good for a change.

The guy was just “posing “ for a photo shot for newspaper -hence no mask- no gloves - these owners have health regulations to follow too - so don’t judge the owner by a photo opp

Honestly I really thought people would be talking about food not masks.

No excuses. No mask = no business from me. There are quite a few businesses in town that have forever lost my business because of poor choices.

It just feels dirty and gross now. Even speaking over people's food gets saliva all over it (virus or not). That picture turned me off as well.

It’s a pandemic. A vendor should use a photo op to set an example to others by wearing appropriate mask, gloves etc. There is no excuse. They are lucky to be allowed to trade right now.

preaching over the last few months is  
"Trust the science"  
"Trust the vaccine"  
"Trust public health making the decisions"  
And now that's all gone out the window?  
 
Like Home Slice said Maybe it's time to trust the vaccine you've got?  
Public Health had determined that catching the virus at an outdoor setting amongst totally vaccinated people to be low risk.  
So go if you want to taste some different foods!  
Quit your bellyaching!  
 
And give some reviews of the food so others can see what might appeal to their taste buds eh?

I, too, saw the Brandon Sun front page photo and thought YUCK I won't be eating there. Photo op or not, food vendors should be wearing a mask. Am I vaccinated? Yes. Do I believe the vaccine works? Yes. However, it is not 100% guaranteed that I won't get ill to some extent if I'm exposed to the virus again, and I prefer to avoid anyone that might make me ill-even mildly. We don't know if food vendors are vaxxed, and if they aren't wearing masks, I will not be supporting their business.

If it all bother ya ‘all so much , then don’t go to the food truck warz! Don’t go anywhere you don’t feel safe, let the rest of us enjoy this awesome event!!!

I thought cook staff were exempt from masks? Honestly, anyone who has cooked before, knows how hot the grills and deep fryers get and in a food truck?? Even more so! I don’t want them sweating on my food and I know for myself, a mask makes me very hot lol. The amount of times a cook needs to wash their hands, gloves would be a PIA and a hinderance. Gloves spread more germs imo.  
 
I am all for masks generally but some situations are different.

Hey Jessie Jay take a pill and chill. The place has been drawing huge crowds who are vaccinated and aren’t crying and whining about vendor masks.They are behind plexiglass in their trucks where in restaurants they are not. Trust your vaccine for crying out loud and let us enjoy this event. Some of us haven’t been out and about in almost 2 years. Stay home if you don’t like it but don’t try to ruin it for the rest of us who can handle it,
