Birthday Cakes

Does anyone have any suggestions for a really good birthday cake?? I want a cake that is moist, last one I got was from Safeway and it tasted like it was sitting on the shelf for a few days because it tasted dry. I'm not looking for any ice cream cake either, but preferablely one with a creamy yet light icing. Many of the cakes from big store bakerys have icing that is much too sweet. Thanx
