What do you prefer for yours? I need a new rolling pin and not sure what to buy. I have a pampered chef one but I honestly don't really care for the one hand rolling. So I want to get another but not sure what to get. I plan to roll out pastry and cookie dough. Any thoughts from the "pros" out there would be great!!

I have a marble weighted rolling pin. It cost me around 80 bucks 5 years ago and it doesn't look it's age. I roll out cookies and pies and perogie dough with it. I would never switch to a different one,and ended up getting rid of my wooden one. If you are willing to pay for a nice one definitely invest in a good quality.

Something like that. Where did you find a marble one? I love to bake in my new kitchen so it would be money well spent!

The silicon ones are awesome. I got mine at bed bath and beyond.

6 grand is a little out of my price range! I gather that's a typo!!

I use a marble rolling pin. I found it at winners about three years ago and it was under 80.00 for sure. Not sure if they would have them but it's worth a look. They are amazing!

I love my marble rolling pin. I also threw out my light wooden one years ago. Marble is the perfect companion for pastries and cookies.  
 
I saw some grey/white marble ones not too far from (to the right of/north of) the sushi area in Superstore just last week. They have a whole display of marble kitchen tools...including a large marble slab for rolling things on, cutting etc.  
 
They say that marble stays cool and that helps make fluffier pastry, etc. That was more pricey of course, but I sure gave it a nice double take and just had to touch it.

have had a marble rolling pin for many years and still works wonderfully as the day I bought it. I just love mine! I think I bought it at Regal many years ago but don't remember for sure.

aluminum rolling pins are far better than marble - and lighter. Have had mine for 20+ yrs as a proffesional baker

Would a heavier rolling pin not work better? .. I always thought the heavier the better as it's less muscle power needed to thin things out...  
 
I'm not trying to be a smart-arse, just would really like to know a professionals rationale for this..  
 
I have a marble one as well and it works like a charm!

best $5 garage find was our weighted marble rolling pin. Will never use wooden or silicone again!

The rationale is - if you are using it for many hours in a day every day, you want it as effortless as possible. The back and forth picking it up every time you roll is more strain than the rolling itself.  
The bearings are sealed inside so they do not get gummed up, which increases muscle power needed to roll if they do.  
It is heavy enough that when rolling pie crust..cookie dough etc the weight of the pin does most of the work, and if it is thick dough - cin buns, donuts etc the ease of rolling offsets the effort.  
Also more non-stick than marble

Regal..lol Have had mine for years & love it as well. Wouldn't have anything else now.

What are thoughts on this one.

Bought a kitchen aid one. It's quite heavy and non stick so it worked great!! My butter tarts were awesome. I say we're because my family inhaled them. NOW I just need a stand mixer!

on of these marble ones at Superstore for 20.00 bucks. It works great. Used my wooden one the other day for cookies and remembered why I don't use it anymore.
