Looking to buy some local organic meat, I am new to Brandon and have yet to find a provider for local chickens, beef and lamb. Any info would be helpful, we shopped at the farmersmarket back home, but in the winter here there isn't that option! Thanks in advance

Not sure if Henry's meats is organic but it is local and close to Brandon.

I have not seen organic meats at Henry Meats.

John Finney of Crocusview Farms (by Kenton) should be able to help you as well. They have organic fully pasture grass fed (not livestock yard fed organic) bison and did have beef at one point. I am not sure if they still do beef but should be able to direct you to someone who does this and the other animals as well.

Ask around and see if anyone has a friend that raises the type of meat animals you're looking for. Most farmers will butcher an animal for themselves, and if they know someone will buy then they will get a second butchered as well. You just need to have freezer space.....or a few people to go in together to divide up the meat.

And altho some may not be CERTIFIED Organic, lots are raised naturally or ethically...or without hormones or antibiotics...but are not CERTIFIED organic  
I think some people may not realize it can be just as good.  
 
Support smaller farmers & get to know them...then you'll know how they raise their products.

You gave me an awesome link, and I totally agree that CERTIFIED Organic isn't necessary to have awesome well raised meats. Do you have a small local farmer you deal with directly? If so could I have their name, I like being referred to farmers so they know that I am serious.

We've been getting meats (chicken, turkeys, beef, eggs) and garden produce from the Klassens since 2008? 2009? I don't even remember. Their chickens are amazing, and I've been to their farm and can vouch for how good they are with their animals.

The Meat Man in Oakburn (just 10 mins from Shoal Lake), has kickass product. All from. Local farmers, gov't inspected. I'd bed 99% sure you wouldn't be disappointed

I also get mine from Klassens family farm near Austin. They come to Brandon in summer, fall (at the Green Spot). If you contact them they will put you on their e-mail list and e-mail their product list (very lengthy list of stuff: Himalayan salt, baked goods, flours, chocolate plus the meats and veggies). Awesome.
