Farmers sausage...but also meaty beef soup bones or meaty ham bones.
There is also cabbage, potatoes, dill, onions, salt & pepper and sour cream before serving. If you are making the beef version, there can also be carrots, tomatoes and parsley added.
Oh so good! I have a ham bone, broth and cabbage waiting in the fridge right now.
Mennonite borscht freezes well. I was curious...does the Ukrainian beet borscht freeze well too?
