I just ate 1/3 this banana. I stopped to ponder the possible health consequences of continuing to eat it once I realized the centre was black and crunchy opposed to the regular softness.  
It didn't taste odd, it just was not the texture I'm accustomed to when eating bananas.  
 
Has anyone encountered this before? Does anyone know what it is? How much much longer do I have to live? (jokes)
