Best Mexican restaurant

With Taco Time opening today, we might just now have ourselves enough restaurants that could fit into the category of "Mexican" to have this discussion. What would you consider Brandon's best... Taco Bell, Qdoba, Taco Time? Would you consider Sabor Latino or even the Papuseria in this category? Or are you holding out for a Taco Del Mar or Chillis?

due respect, the first three in that list are not real Mexican! They are good in their own rights, but are more along the lines of tex-mex. I haven't tried that last restaurant you mentioned, but Sabor.....is amazing and if I lived in Brandon I would probably eat there 2x's per week. I have only been there once so far and the service was amazing, the waitress was super helpful with helping to order and the food was unbelievable. The only problem with the place was the music! It made it very hard to get the food into my big mouth cause I was too busy chair dancing (and getting yelled at by the wife to stop).
We just had taco time open in weyburn and while it is good for a quick fast food "taco" it is so far from Mexican other than they use Mexican names the food. Even go so far to call mini hash-browns or tator-totts Mexi-Fries to make them sound Mexican. They even have Mexi-Fry poutine.....totally NOT Mexican!

Qdoba! I love that place! I'm actually holding out got a taco del Mar though. I find the burritos a lot more manageable in one sitting and the prices are better. If rather pay less for a smaller burrito I can actually eat. I did find the tortilla chips at qdoba a lot better. I love taco bell normally, but Brandon's had disappointed me every time I've been there . That said, I would also love to see Chili's in Manitoba.

On 10th st across from hydro. Authentic Mexican. Tortilla soup es may Rico - delicious. They also have authentic tacos , burritos and they have specials that you won't find anywhere else in Brandon. Take home some spicy guacamole sauce from their grocery section. The owners are from Mexico and know how to cook Mexican food from scratch.

Number one... It is very tiny inside, only 2 tables, but it's worth the wait. The taco's are amazing, IMO better than Sabor Latino. I also love the Pupuseria, it's all they make and they do a great job, but they are not mexican, they are from El Salvador. Secondly would be Qdoba, I like that you can personalize your order, and it's made fresh.

Qdoba is one of my go-to places, love their food. My biggest problem is deciding what to get!

What was the Mexican place near the old Winnipeg Arena, was that Chi-Chi's? Used to love their deep fried ice cream!

First of all the qdoba, taco time and tacobell are American franchises of tex mex food, second, sabor latino is, as implied in the name, latin american food.

Not all latin americans are Mexican, third of all, the Papuseria is a salvadorian food restaurant, not everybody south of the states is Mexican.

Love the passion, would be interested to know what restaurant and even dish is your favourite or if any hidden gems havent yet been mentioned!

From the Yellow pages category for "Mexican Restaurants in Brandon":
Sabor Latino (a business generally chooses their own listing categories), KFC Taco Bell, Qdoba. Safe to assume Taco Time will be added soon.

From the Zomato/Urbanspoon for "Best Mexican Restaurant in Brandon" the options are Qdoba, KFC Taco Bell, Brandon Hispano Bakery

I like me some authentic as much as the next guy (have to give the Hispano Bakery a try!) and authentic vs less than authentic is definitely a part of this debate of what folks consider to be the best..... but as far as this thread goes "Mexican" was meant to be the more general definition of Mexican food just as you'd see at the links above and could include authentic or what some would call Tex-Mex. The Papuseria is definitely a reach to be seen as a part of the category!

Calling the Papuseria Mexican food is like calling Sushi Chinese food, Poutine American food or Perogies Russian food.

That''s how ignorant it sounds when you try to "generalize" by saying all Latin American food is "Mexican" food.

The closest thing to Mexican food in Brandon would be Brandon Hispano.

A good choice for Salvadorian food will be the Papuseria

Sabor latino will be latin american food in general as their add states.

I would say Qdoba is likely best fast food spot. Brandon Hispano is definitely great but it is very tiny, maybe 2 or 3 tables. I would frequent Qdoba more but as a University student its a little expensive so only as a treat!

Taco Time is my family's personal favourite Mexican (or Tex mex).
