Brandon Folk, Music & Art Society Inc. appoints Music Director
1/15/2009 at 11:49 AM
There were some questions raised in recent weeks about the future of the Folk Festival. Here's a press release I've just received regarding their appointment of a new Music Director..
-------------------
The Brandon Folk, Music and Art Society, Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Ken Jaworski as Music Director for the 25th Annual Festival, taking place this coming July 24, 25 and 26, 2009.
A well-known graphic artist, musician and concert producer, Ken was born and raised in Brandon Manitoba and got his start in concert promotion at the age of 16.
Throughout the 1990s, he produced over a hundred rock, punk and indie concerts featuring local talent as well as major touring acts. Ken also has a solid history of contributing to our community - not only with his own bands but in promoting the music of others.
"I am thrilled to be involved with this great festival, one that Brandonites can be truly proud of" says Ken. "2009's festival is shaping up to be a great one, and a fitting celebration for our 25th year.
We're kicking it all off with a concert by Hawksley Workman on February 24th, and I encourage everyone to come check out this talented Canadian folk-rock institution. We're also already at work on a revamped website, and some special 25th Anniversary projects."
"We are so lucky to have someone with Ken's experience in the community" said Brandon Folk, Music and Art Society chair Shandra MacNeill. "We are all very excited to work with him in our 25th anniversary year. With his wealth of experience, broad musical appreciation, and with roots in our community as older than the festival itself, Ken will be an inspiring force in making 2009 our most exciting programming year in recent history!"
