Is the movie “The Golden Compass” bad for the children of Christians and Jews?

“The Golden Compass” is a movie targeted at children. Atheist Philip Pullman bases it on the first book of a trilogy. In the final book a boy and girl kill God so thy can do as they please. Mr Pullman made clear his intentions in a 2003 interview when he said “My books are about killing God.”
The movie is a watered down depiction of the first book, but is designed to be very attractive in the hope unsuspecting parents will take their children to see the movie, and that the children will want the books for Christmas.
In an article in the “Sydney Morning Herald” Mr. Philip Pullman is quoted as saying, “I’ve been surprised how little criticism I’ve received. Harry Potter’s been taking all the flak. I’m a great fan of J.K. Rowling, but the people, mainly from the American Bible Belt, who complain that Harry Potter promotes Satanism or Witchcraft, obviously haven’t got enough in their lives. Meanwhile, I’ve been flying under the radar, saying things that are far more subversive than anything poor old Harry has said. My books are about killing God.”
It seems like Mr Pullman is a little jealous of Ms. Rowlings popularity. I have posted this information to warn parents as to the content of the movie, and to help them make an informed decision on whether or not they wish your children to watch this movie.
