I'm wondering the same thing. Straight Outta Compton is one of 2 big movies released this week and has been advertised all over TV. Why is Straight Outta Compton not showing but this movie "Beyond the Mask" is? I've never heard of it but after looking it up I see this movie was released on April 6th and has made 1.2 million in box office since. Why was this movie brought in? I can't imagine there was a demand for it. Maybe I'm wrong though.  
 
I know the theatre people post here so maybe they can shed some light.

Mission impossible is so washed up, and Sean the sheep? Like really? And pixels? That movies looks like trash, and that's coming from an Adam sander fan. I can guarantee that movie would've filled up all weekend.  
And sorry I missed the few good men moment lol.  

Where is ms landmark or whatever her name is when you need her? Lol

They have a contact us tab on their website. I would ask them why and/or let them know there is an interest for it here. If everybody who wanted to see it contacts them, maybe they will listen.

If you go to movies section at the top of the eBrandon page, you can see the " contact us " & suggest they get this movie.

You shouldn't have to email a theatre and suggest they get a movie that's probably going to be #1 in the box office for the weekend but I guess it's Brandon, and we will have to do that.

If I remember correctly, I don't think Landmark as control over what movies are sent.

I sent the theater an email in regards to why Straight Outta Compton wasn't playing here. The manager got back to me within minutes and this was her response:  
 
Thank you for your question.  
 
Unfortunately we have no control over which movies are sent to us. That decision is made through our film booker at the discretion of the studios.  
 
In this particular case, we have been informed that the studio wanted to do a “soft” Canadian opening and only sent the movie to larger markets.  
 
If it does well in those markets they will expand, and we have been told that we will have it starting next Friday if that is the case.  
 
 
 
I’m sorry for the inconvenience of it not being here.  
 
We will know on Monday Evening, if we will for sure have it Friday.  
By Tuesday morning showtimes will be available at www.landmarkcinemas.com/brandon

Watched this movie today.  
Not worth it to see in theatre.  
Plot and storyline weak but ok.  
Acting was horrible.  
I give this movie .5 outta 5 stars

I want the truth!

I'm not going to email a theatre and ask them if they're playing this movie. That's like calling Pizza Hut, and asking them if they make pizza. You're job as a theatre is to play popular movies and let them full up your theatres. Thus being more customers which means more money.

You won't email them to ask why, but you will ask ebrandon why? You said you wanted answers, seems to me most logical thing to do would ask the theatre.

Well someone already did the work for you... The response from the theatre is already posted on this thread. It's not the theatre itself that picks it's movies.  
Do you get to pick what you do at work, or does your boss tell you what to do? Not local theatres fault.

Generational or not any movie outfit will play movies based on the what has sold well in the past.  
 
Dollars to donuts if a movie is aimed at the younger crowd they have watched it somewhere on line from a questionable download not long after it was available anywhere.  
 
Popular or not in the media does not mean a full house in Backwards Toba. Know your fan base and just maybe they do?  

Likely because it would be a flop in Brandon.  
 
I can all but guarantee you that Pixels (despite how bad it looks) would be a bigger draw in Brandon than Straight Outta Compton would be.

well it would be nice if every movie everyone wanted to see was out at the time you want to see it, honestly waiting a week or two isnt a big deal

unless your in a major city with numerous theaters to choose from, we have no choice but to accept what is sent. The local management itself, at any theater, does not decide what it played. Thats for the grand pooh bahs to decide. I, however did enjoy pixels, I laughed so hard at how cheesy (in a good way) it was.

Suggest you go somewhere else to watch a movie about Rapping and street thugs.

This movie is about rap, controversial with casting and the general public might not know who Dr. Dre and Ice Cube are. I couldn't give a second look at a movie like this. Sorry. I'm not sure this is a blockbuster for Brandon.

Thanks everyone for expressing your concerns with our film selection. Unfortunately no we didn't get Straight Outta Compton this weekend. This movie is not a wide release in Canada, there were only select theaters chosen by the studio that have a strong urban market, to premier this film on opening weekend. Once the box office numbers are analyzed they will decide whether it is worth releasing it wide to Canada. Upon that decision we will be top of the list to show the film.  
 
Although we obviously hit a nerve with some with not premiering it, I do hope most will understand that it is a decision out of our hands and our entire team in Brandon spent the week leading to this begging to get a copy to release.  
 
With only 9 theaters it is difficult to please all demographics, some weeks may have a "crappy selection of washed up movies" but to others we are pleasing a group of people that don't normally get product in for them. Beyond the mask for example, is a faith based film. A rare occurrence for us but we see lots of new faces in our lobby and in our opinion that's a win!  
 
We value each group and each and every customer. Be patient with us and we will ensure everyone will be pleased with us at some point or another.

a decision the the studio has to make. Landmark can't show a movie if they don't have it. Maybe those who want this movie should contact the studio that made it.
