Shomi just announced that it's streaming service will stop as of November 30, 2016.  
 

Cue the Closing Credits. Unfortunately, shomi will be shutting down as of Nov. 30, 2016. These past 2 years have been amazing &: we thank you

No surprises there. Nobody can compete with Netflix. We signed up for it months ago and used it once. Just remembered a few weeks ago to cancel.

Doesn't surprise me, got the two month free trial earlier this year and cancelled it before I had to pay. It was often buffering or the video and audio weren't synced up, didn't find it as user friendly as Netflix and after two months of watching I watched most of the content that I cared about.

Boo!! I don't watch it very often but i liked rewatching SOA on it. My husband watches it fairly often. We found it had different movies/tv then Netflix which was nice

I'm so sad! I watch shomi much more often than netflix. I just binge watched odd mom out and the path and season 3 of Empire just started

gotten to the point where to watch certain shows you need certain providers (Netflix, Crave, Shomi, etc.).

Yeah I can't say I'm surprised, the constant buffering was horrendous, I'm on westman ultra wave, and have never had a buffering issue on netflix, but every few minutes Shomi would hang, it didn't even seem to matter the time of day.  
 
Cancelling was a frigging nightmare too, I kept getting the run around online before calling them up and threatening to cancel my credit card lol

I liked my Shomi! I guess I better hurry up and finish watching season 14 of NCIS!

Props to them for taking an ambitious stab at getting into the type of business that might help them counter any effect Netflix might be having on other aspects of their business. I did like their marketing, but the market is what the market is. Couldnt have helped that they and Crave were going toe to toe for what seems like the same small piece of pie.  
 
We'd taken the Shomi trial and at the end decided it just wasn't worth it to pay for both it and Netflix... and the content library for our interests wasn't enough that we'd cancel Netflix for it. Also consider we're paying for Kindle Unlimited and Spotify and that there's a point where you can't justify the spend on too many content services. All that said, have to wonder if it was a little ahead of its time and if someone like myself might feel differently about how many services I'd pay for 5 years from now.

I have to say I really liked their original program, "You, me and the apocalypse".  
 
I managed to suffer through the buffering to watch that series, it's too bad it ended after 1 season.

At one point we had signed up for the free trials for Crave TV and Shomi after we had had Netflix for a while and started finding it a bit stale.  
 
Kept Shomi long enough to get most of the way through Modern Family and then it just wasn't worth it unfortunately. The buffering and the way it was set up was just.. kind of a mess. Just cancelled it recently.  
 
Crave TV I love for the HBO shows and South Park and some of the Comedy specials. Netflix Originals are the best. We kept the two, he pays for one and I pay for the other so it's not so bad to have both!

Shomi was never more than a way for Rogers to keep content away from Netflix. The apps were half-baked at best and until they were forced, they didn''t even offer it to non-cable subscribers. The fact that they failed doesn''t surprise me at all.  
 
Crave TV won't likely be far behind.

At least CraveTV has a better selection depending on your tastes. Unfortunately, it too suffers from the same buffering issues as Shomi which doesn't help. Not to mention the lack of support for Paypal payments as well as Xbox 360 and others.  
 
On topic, I don't think Shomi is bundled with any regional cable providers either so that might also be a problem. AFAIK, you can't Rogers out here.

We've got Shilo and Netflix, and I'd say they compliment each other nicely. There's some really good shows on Shomi that aren't on Netflix. We'll likely give Crave a shot once Shomi is done cause there's some solid shows on there too.  
 
Guess I've got a couple months to get through Homeland!!
