Just wondering if anyone has some real fuel economy results for a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Engine would be a 3.6L V6 8 cylinder. Looking at purchasing a 2017. Just wanting some true numbers that are from real people and not from a computer!

This is a very heavy vehicle. Far heavier than my full size 2003 F-150. As with any truck type vehicle, it is like driving a sheet of plywood down the highway.  
 
You are not buying this vehicle for fuel mileage, you are buying it for other reasons.

I checked all my specs online - just googled the make and model, then the specs came up. The numbers online are exactly what I am getting.

I have a 2015, 3.6l is a v6, not a V8.It has a 3.6l v6, Hwy mileage 8-10l per 100 km. Real world daily driving city and hwy averages 14l per 100 km. Previous vehicle was a 2010 Grand Cherokee, same engine, about the same fuel mileage. Both bought new.Not the most economical, but by far the best vehicles I have ever owned. They both get better gas mileage than my 2010 Ram reg cab short box 4x4 with a 5.7l hemi.

Fuel mileage will be a huge factor in my decision making. I'm wanting a vehicle that's higher up and a 4wd. Also wanting a vehicle that's a good size for travelling with lots of storage when we start a family

Go with the 8 Speed German built ZF Transmission if you can. The quality is amazing and you get 8 gears! This makes for phenominal gas mileage. Experienced it for a year on a 16'Ram Hemi and was impressed with the gas mileage.  
This transmission is also used by other luxury and high end manufacturers such as BMW, Maserati, Audi, Bently/Rolls Royce, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volkswagon.  
After driving an old GM 4 speed transmission for years, the gas mileage difference was night and day, even in a V8. Spring for the Hemi....you only live once.

Dodge is not for you then. I would look at a Hyundai Santa Fe or a KIA Sorento they are about the same size as the Grand Cherokee. Ford has some good engines that will surprise you with there gas mileage. GM like dodge has comparable vehicles but for the most part are under powered and wont save you mileage because of it. You are very limited with good mileage candidates when your looking to buy an SUV with 4WD and in the size of the Grand Cherokee which I love by the way. Both the Santa Fe and Sorento are available with an 8 speed transmission. the Ford Explorer 2.0-Liter and the ford edge are also good candidates

If you want a Grand Cherokee AND great fuel mileage, they do come with the 3.0l Ecodiesel engine which gets great mileage. They dropped the Ecodiesel as an option in 2018, so if you want a new GC, odds are slim to find a 2017 with Eco, but I do know of one used one. Happy shopping!

Ecofuel get great milage plus has great pulling power. 5.0l V8. I am extremely satisfied with the milage as I avg 12 l/ 100 km. The Jeep however is a much heavier vehicle and fuel milage may be somewhat less. Just saying.

We have a 2016 Jeep GC Limited, very happy with gas mileage on highway generally between 8-10 L / 100Km. In city we get between 10-13. All in all we are on highway more with it.

I do all highway driving to and from work and a little in town, so that info is good to have! Thank you!

If you get that motor, you get decent mileage as well as power. That motor is also used in half tons.
