See this often as well and it''s a real problem where drivers are driving at night without tgeir lights on. It''s easy to leave the lights on "auto" if so equiped, but for whatever reason this may not be an option. It''s happened to me a few times as my better half (for whatever reason) doesn''t like to yse the auto light function. For some vehicles such as ours car manufacturers have decided to have the dash lights come on whenever the running lights are on, so essentially the dash lights are on all the time when one is driving making it almost impossible to distinguish if your driving with your lights on at night.I don''t know how this feature hasn''t been picked up by the proper aithorities as a driving hazzard that must be corrected. For those wondering, we have a 2014 Camry and yes the dash lights are on as soon as the engine is running no matter the light switch position. Car manufacturers should correct this if it hasn't been done already. Probably most Toyotas in those years have dash lights constantly on when the engine is running and maybe other car manufacturers as well. Why they woukd design it this way? I don't know as I see no benefit to this feature at all.
