Punishment?
2/6/2018 at 12:23 PM
These devices are not intended as a penalty for drivers but, rather are intended to influence safer driving behaviour by physically separating driving from drinking alcohol.
That's from our Gov. So no one is suffering any consequences with these lemons. Pardon me, electronic devices. You can choose to go completely towards AFM and MPIs programs, for example, having three years of signed MPI forms from an A.A sponsor providing valid proof that meetings were being attended, and improvement was continuing. Years later after serving a suspension. Two and a half years of blowing zero blood alcohol.
Not one infraction, nothing. Going on seven years of sobriety, my six year old asks what the device is...
Well it's Manitoba bill 34 under the safer roads act. Do we all need this?
First time offenders, I hope learn a lesson but no, in no way, shape or form am I whining about first time offenders. I don't really care about a first time offender there's nothing I can do as one person to prevent 1400-2000 first time offenders for the year in our province. Although, they do deserve to vent their issues with a weak program, and an electronic device that is faulty. Many will walk, don't worry. Many can't afford it, many still don't gain respect for the law and just keep on going. Of course they will get caught, you are right! As for those who have children, and are trying to do everything right, because mistakes were made. They are the ones dealing with it, and the penalties that I have never experienced but have listened to multiple stories that are not right. You can quietly go through the program while your buddy blows into it and not complain about its reliability or use but nothing, nothing is stopping them from getting into an accident. When those who serve and protect and have sworn are driving under the influence, I think everyone no matter who, can voice their opinion, in a respectable manor.
Alcoholism, what about that? Why are we the youngest legal drinking age in Canada? Why is the LC open later now and on $undays? Re-Habs and treatment centres are full. Due to addictions and alcoholism. For those who don't have a problem you are kindly excused from any negative opinions on this stuff, but for alcololics who are suffering, it's tough. I want to bring up another interesting point: those who blow numerous fails into the device. Pay a penalty, yet get it removed with a full license back, repeat offender I should also note. How does this person get to drive? Was there a slip in the file and the fails were missed? Does the history of descisions made by our province allowing this individual to drive after a fatality get looked at? There needs to be an appeal procces. There's an appeal procces for a suspension...
I will continue to do as I am told, write to my MP.
