I have a 2014 Honda Ridgeline Touring with navigation system which is essentially a DVD drive under the drivers seat with a map DVD. I've recently been having a lot of issues with the system, getting regular disk read errors and the nav system fails. I've tried cleaning the dvd drive with compressed air as well as a cleaning disc and also cleaned the map disc itself. Also tried another brand new disc with no luck. I keep getting disc read errors. My next step is to completely remove the drive to possibly try cleaning the laser with an alcohol swab of some sort. Honda want $650 just to repair the drive! Yikes! A new drive is over $1000. Has anyone had a similar issue and any ideas on a solution? Anyone local who can service this type of drive? Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

Call Doug Martens at Forman Honda. He sells there but has owned numerous Ridgelines and his knowledge about everything Ridgeline is simply amazing. Good luck.

Seriously? A 2014 or did you mean a 2004 lol. I bought a navigation head unit on clearance over ten years ago that stored the maps on a DVD, it was already outdated back then
