I am looking for some one to do a safety on an antique ford .  
I would prefer if it could be done on site because I don't have a trailer to get to town. I live in Oak Lake.  
Any info would be appreciated

If you are registering it as an antique, you don't need a safety. However, the antiques plates are very limiting on how and when you can operate the vehicle. If you just do things like cruise night, car shows and the occasional parades, the antique plates, which are less than $100 a year including some measure of insurance, are perfect.

While I don't know if what CMP says is true or not (Wouldn't surprise me if it's true), I know safeties have to be done at a licensed shop. It is illegal to do them on site. Sorry.

because this car is from out of province it must be safetied .  
in the other province there was on site safties done by members of the club that were licenced mechanics

Are you wanting antique or collector? There are differences.

I don’t believe there is an antique plate. There are only collector plates (CVP). I copied the following info from MPI.  
 
To be eligible for the CVP, a vehicle must be:  
 
a passenger vehicle, light truck (gross vehicle weight of 4,540 kgs or less) or motorcycle  
used for ‘Pleasure’ only under Basic Autopac (i.e., not used for regular commuting)  
at least 25 years old  
maintained at a value of at least $5,000 for passenger vehicles and light trucks or over $4,000 for motorcycles

Collector plates do indeed differ from antique. I can guarantee that antique plates do exist as I use them for some of my vehicles that are used only for parade or display. They also allow trips to the repair shop.

Certain transfers of ownership are exempt from the COI requirements. These are:  
....Any transfer involving a vehicle to be registered as an antique motor vehicle.

Also wanted to mention that antique plates are only available in certain Autopac offices. In Brandon, you have to visit the large Autopac office on 1st st....the same place you write your drivers exams.
