Has anyone had a wildlife claim denied? What was your next step?

Never heard of that - why would they deny it?

You have to remember, MPIC deals with hundreds of thousands of claims every year. Tens of thousands of wildlife hits every year as well. They really know what they are doing and what to look for. Ya it sounds easy to get some deer fur and put it around a damaged area, but MPIC looks way way beyond that. For example, you claim a deer hit but there is scratches in the damaged area of the vehicle that indicate it hit a tree or light post. They know what to look for. Best advice. Go back to who every was driving and told you they hit a deer, and find out what really happened.

They should have an appeal process?  
 
I have a dash camera running at all times. Something like that might help for the next time.

Other people can break their grill, stick a few mallard duck feathers in it and convince MPI that the grill was broken by a mallard flying Into it. Fraud like that, Of course, is what makes it harder for people with a legitimate claim.  
 
It is true-the adjusters look for hair and blood-and if they find none but instead see scratches or paint transfer-then they will deny the claim, and rightfully so.

why they say don't wash or clean the vehicle after you hit wildlife till after the adjuster has examined it. Though that might mean driving around with deer fur and blood on your vehicle.

This is beyond hilarious.

Photos to document the hit are a must when making a claim, Make sure that the date is accurate. I had a guy back into me and I had to go to work so I took plenty of photos, left a note on his truck and headed to work. (then I made the claim when I was there)

You can appeal. They give you a pamphlet. Ask for one but the question is, did they tell you why?

I drove around with a dead prairie chicken in my grill for 3 days so it would still be there for my MPI appointment. Apparently that was overkill but better safe than sorry I thought.
