need information about 4 HP briggs stratton engine

I am having trouble with the carburator linkage in a 4 hp briggs engine. It starts and idles fine. It will not rev up with the throttle. I would like to examine a working engine to see what might be wrong with my linkage. I have searched unsuccessfully.
