This person should have realized that the speed was excessive, but they did it.
My problem here is the 168 km/h. The photo clearly shows 168 and 100, presuming that this represents km/h and mph. It mentions in the article those numbers. However, 100 mph is 160.9344 km/h, not 168 km/h. Any metric conversion calculator will show that.
If tickets are based on the imperial measurement and then converted to metric, people are being overcharged because their speed is incorrectly calculated. In this case, 7 km/h. Yes, it will be less of an increase at a reduced speed, but it is still wrong. If I were this person, I'd be fighting this ticket based on these errors, which have been photographed. " |

First off, anyone getting off due to an error (which does not exist in this case) for such a excessive violation is ridiculous. Second, there is not error. Take a closer look at the picture, the 100 is under posted speed, meaning the speed limit in the zone being monitored.
All radar equipment in Canada in metric. Not sure if this is something that can be changed from imperial to metric in settings, but it would be done in metric if this is a possibility.
Again - someone always looking for someone else to blame. People need to own up to mistakes, and move on. Not blame someone else for what they did wrong (and yes, I know your not the person with the ticket - but based on your statements, your OK with people not being held accountable for there actions)
