Yard Attendant
(Class 5 Driver's Licence Required; Class 3 with Air Endorsement Preferred)
For our Home Centre located in Erickson, MB
The Yard Attendant is responsible for providing an exceptional level of customer service and maintaining a safe and efficient operation while adhering to all company policies, procedures, and standards. This includes assisting customers, loading and delivering products, merchandising yard inventory, maintaining site cleanliness, and supporting overall Home Centre operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with product selection, loading purchases, deliveries, inquiries, and product knowledge; collaborate respectfully with Team Members to support a positive work environment and deliver a World Class Customer Experience.
- Load, unload, receive, inspect, store, and organize building materials, hardware, and other merchandise in the yard and warehouse areas.
- Operate forklifts and other equipment safely and efficiently while following workplace safety standards and company procedures.
- Deliver products to customers as required, ensuring deliveries are completed safely, accurately, and professionally.
- Merchandise and maintain yard inventory, ensuring products are properly stored, displayed, signed, and maintained according to company standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping standards in the yard, warehouse, and outdoor storage areas; remove debris and ensure a safe working environment.
- Assist with inventory counts, stock replenishment, product transfers, and other operational duties as assigned by the Home Centre Manager.
Education and Experience:
- Completion of high school is preferred.
- Previous customer service, retail, lumber, or building materials experience is considered an asset.
- Class 5 Driver's Licence required.
- Class 3 Driver's Licence with Air Endorsement is considered an asset.
- Forklift experience or certification is considered an asset.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Commitment to ongoing learning and development within the retail and building products industry.
- Knowledge of workplace safety practices, including WHMIS, is considered an asset.
- Home Centre and yard environment requiring prolonged standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying, and repetitive movements.
- May be required to lift and carry items up to 25 kg and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Requires adherence to occupational health and safety standards and safe equipment operation procedures.
