The primary responsibility of the Literacy Support Worker is to support the work of the Literacy Coordinator and Instructor in creating a welcoming and safe space for individuals to continue their learning journey. This is a casual contract position of 9 hours per week.
Job responsibilities
- Provide administrative assistance to the literacy staff, including greeting potential walk-in students.
- Assist students who are struggling with academic issues.
- Follow the academic policies and procedures.
- Maintain updated records of student progress and achievements, ensuring compliance with institutional standards.
- Support the development and implementation of academic support programs to enhance student success interview
- Mentor and tutor students one on one
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- A degree in education administration, social sciences, or a related field is preferred
- Proven experience in an academic support role or similar position is advantageous
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities to manage various administrative tasks effectively
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office and other software
