ntermediate Draftsperson / CAD Technologist
About the Role
Keller Developments is seeking a detail-oriented Draftsperson / CAD Technologist to join our in-house design division, Myria Design.
In this role, you will produce design drawings for residential, commercial, and multi-residential projects, working alongside project managers, engineers, and trades from concept through construction in an integrated design-build environment.
Requirements:
- 3 to 5 years? experience in drafting, design, or a related construction field is preferred
- Post-secondary education in Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology, Civil Technology, or a related field
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Softplan, or similar design software
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, building systems, and/or site development principles
- Extensive practical knowledge of construction practices, detailing, and applicable regulations
- Familiarity with DWG, CSV, and related file formats
- Knowledge of building codes, zoning, and permitting processes is an asset
- Experience with surveying, site grading, or geospatial data is considered an asset
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently while collaborating within a team environment
- CTTAM certification is considered an asset
- A valid Class 5 driver?s licence and reliable vehicle
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed design drawings including site plans, grading plans, elevations, landscaping layouts, and construction details
- Develop drawings using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, or related software for a variety of residential and commercial projects
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and trades to ensure drawings align with project scope, specifications, and timelines
- Coordinate drawings with external consultants including engineers, surveyors, and other project stakeholders
- Review construction documents prior to tender to ensure accuracy, completeness, and coordination
- Assist in mentoring, coordinating, and reviewing work completed by Junior CAD Technologists
- Assist in advancing projects from concept through design development to permit-ready drawings
- Coordinate with surveyors and utilize geospatial and elevation data in design work
- Perform basic site grading checks and assist with quantity takeoffs as required
- Support permitting processes, including preparation of submission packages and coordination with authorities having jurisdiction
- Maintain organized drawing files and documentation throughout the project lifecycle
- Participate in project meetings and provide drafting support to internal teams
- Assist with revisions and updates to drawings as projects evolve
