Summer of Service Program Assistant
Hours: Monday - Friday - 8:00am - 4:00pm
Wage: $17.50 per/hour @ 35 hours per week
Employment Term: Monday, July 6 to Friday August 28, 2026
Duties:
As a Summer of Service Program Assistant, you will play an active role in supporting and delivering the program. Working alongside the Summer of Service Program Coordinator and program staff, you will help engage youth volunteers, support community projects and events, and contribute to a positive, team-focused program environment. This position involves hands-on participation, leadership opportunities, and meaningful interaction with youth, volunteers, and community partners.
Your tasks may include:
- Support Summer of Service activities in both office and community settings.
- Participate in volunteer activities, community projects, and youth engagement initiatives throughout the summer.
- Assist with program setup, cleanup, logistics, attendance tracking, and participant support during events and activities.
- Support volunteer communication, scheduling, documentation, and general program coordination.
- Help maintain and support the e-Volunteer platform, including participant assistance and basic troubleshooting.
- Assist staff with administrative, organizational, and office tasks related to summer programming.
- Help document program activities through photos, forms, social media content, or other communication materials as directed.
- Encourage positive participation, teamwork, and respectful interaction among youth volunteers.
- Engage professionally with youth, families, volunteers, community organizations, and program participants.
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and team-focused environment during volunteer placements and events.

Qualifications:
- Post-secondary student, college or university.
- Previous volunteer, school, customer service, or community experience is an asset.
- Comfortable working with youth, families, volunteers, and community members from diverse backgrounds.
- Able to complete hands-on tasks such as sorting, lifting light boxes, packing supplies, setting up materials, and helping at community locations.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License is considered an asset.
- Current First Aid certification is considered an asset.
Canada Summer Jobs Eligibility Requirements
This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program. Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Applicants must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
- Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
- Applicants must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
