Position: Part-Time / Casual Transit Driver
Location: Riverdale Municipality (Rivers, MB)
About the Role:
The Riverdale Lake Line Transit service provides accessible transportation for seniors, individuals with mobility challenges, and other community members throughout the municipality and surrounding area. Since launching earlier this year, the service has been assisting residents with transportation to medical appointments, shopping, personal errands, community activities, and recreational outings.
We are seeking compassionate and reliable drivers to join our casual driver roster. This is an on-call casual position where trip opportunities are offered to a group of approved drivers as ride requests are received, on a first-come, first-served basis. Most trips occur during daytime hours; however, evening and occasional weekend work is available to support community events and activities such as Senior Suppers, Music in the Park, recreational outings, and other special events.
Passengers are generally required to book rides with a minimum of 24 hours' notice, allowing drivers to be scheduled in advance and ensuring efficient service delivery. Drivers will operate our transit vehicle and provide safe, courteous, and dependable transportation services to passengers throughout the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate the Transit vehicle safely and efficiently within town limits and to nearby communities.
- Provide door-to-door service, assisting passengers as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of trips, mileage, and passenger information.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and passengers.
Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to assist passengers with mobility aids.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
- Confirmation of the following required upon hiring;
- Valid Manitoba Class 4 driver's license (or higher).
- Clean Driver's Abstract.
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
- Child and Adult Abuse Registry Checks (issued within the last 60 days).
- Personal Drivers Abstract
Preferred Qualifications:
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience in operating accessible transit vehicles.
- Familiarity with the Riverdale Municipality area.
