I have seen over and over that people are throwing their cigarette butts out the windows of their vehicles.  
 
Please..do not!  
 
It is so dry, we don't need fires!

My understanding is that Alberta has a huge arsed fine for that. Makes sense fire wise. Here in Manitoba it is probably just like a littering fine. Chump change.Not usually enforced.

You can buy those ashtrays with lids that fit in cup holders, which are way easier than throwing out the window anyway...

My thoughts exactly. It would be too much effort to dispose of the butts correctly, that is why they are tossed out the window.

people who dump their car ashtrays in parking lots? Better, worse, or just as bad as the 'flickers'?

It sure irks us, but do we ever pick up litter to keep our city beautiful?

I have spent the last 18 months driving from Sandy Lake to Brandon for school and it is unbelievable how many smokers throw their butts out the window. Even in the spring when most areas were under a burn ban I would see at least 5 vehicles on my drive with people throwing butts out. Makes you sick...especially being an ex smoker that would never throw a smoke out the window. Maybe it’s time to start reporting them?

I saw this person flick their cigarette butt basically a few yards away from my yard. It concerns me that my place could go up in flames very quickly. I was just hoping it might make people more aware and think first, before doing it. I've never been a smoker, and I can imagine that it's just habit. And I know some newer vehicles don't even have ashtrays, but like someone said, you can purchase those portable ashtrays.

Not only a fire hazard but just gross and dirty to look at anywhere. Parking lots, play grounds or my least favourite in the sand at the beach.

Apparently there are now trained crowd that pick up garbage and cigarette butts. Even cities in Canada have them. Some crows are only trained to pick up cigarette butts. Seems like a good solution to me.

If the people that litter and throw out their cigarette butts could be trained to not do that and use the proper disposal places instead? Maybe it is just easier to train the crows?

Are disgusting anyways...they throw butts outside of cars, while their walking, they smoke JUST outside of the doors of public buildings and stores...it's ridiculous

True that ashtrays don't come standard in new cars now days. But a few years ago, that a customer could ask for the smokers option, and the car company would provide an ashtray and the push in lighter for free. May be different now. ( non smoker for last 15 years)

It would be wonderful if owners of businesses told their employees not to toss their butts out on the street/lane when they are out doing their jobs. If they can't smoke in their trucks or on private property, why toss butts on sidewalks and lanes? I'd never hire those clowns. If they can't respect others property, chances are slim they would care about the job they do for me. You are the face of the company name on your work truck.
