I was wondering if anyone here works/or worked as a dietary aide for PMH in Brandon?  
If so, I would love to hear feedback about the job and what the hiring process is like.  
I am thinking about applying for a job there.

My sister-in-law works at the one in Neepawa. She got hired as a casual first, then got a permanent position. She enjoys it well enough. Good benefits. The shift hours are a bit strange (6am-2pm, 6am-10am, 10am-7pm, 2pm-7pm)... its all pretty routine though , and once you get the hang of it it's simple enough. If you have any other questions, I'm sure I can get them answered

Last time I worked in a hospital (different Provience) it was a long process and I had to get needles, interview, drop off all my paperwork/ info, and all day orientation through out a couple of weeks.

No needles required in Prairie Mountain Health, but they are recommended. You will have to apply online https://www.prairiemountainhealth.ca/careers/find-a-career you will then be called for an interview, then if you get a call

Then if you get a call back you will have to get a criminal record, child and adult abuse registry check. They will accept a receipt that you did it until the real thing comes in the mail. Then you have to go for a 1 day (paid) orientation in Brandon's Nurses residence. It apparently isn't too bad, as long as you show up you are good and essentially "pass", if you don't show up you automatically no longer have a job...so ...show up lol . Everyone must go to the orientation day, from maintenance to EMTs to Nurses, everyone employed with PMH. then after that day you slide right into training in your department. For dietary aide you have many different shifts to train for, you get 3 days of training for that shift, then onto the next set. They have it pretty organized and by day 3 you can become confident enough to do the shift alone. There is always a lot of shifts that come available (I.e. People calling in sick), so even as a "casual" you could essentially be working decent hours.

I think that altogether the time from applying to working was about a month. Which is comparable to other employment.

Needles are not a requirement for anyone in the Dietary Aide position, I was a bit vague and should clarify that I'm not sure about other positions in PMH lol before anyone jumps down my throat
