Abbysmum said "It seems to me that there was more things going on prior to the pandemic. But things have also changed since a small child was killed by a car while attending an event several years ago.
Some stuff started there - food truck wars and a small midway comes to mind - but people complained that there wasn't enough parking etc.
Usually events downtown boil down to parking. There's more at the Riverbank and the Keystone. People complain otherwise. "
You are correct, everything was shut down at the park for the last two years due to the pandemic. They did a couple vaccine clinics and a few other things as restrictions lifted.
Normally the park is choc full of events. Music in the park, yoga in the park, library puts on event, Brandon Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation puts on events, Metis foundation, indigenous eats food truck, salvation army food truck etc. I work in a very close proximity to this park and its usually a bumping place and I get annoyed cause I can't get my parking space back when I'm coming back from lunch. Parking is the issue. Those spaces up for sale on 10th Street for $1.00 should be made into proper parking areas cause you are correct it would help downtown thrive.
Again you are correct about the food truck wars, they tried it down here but it was taking away from local downtown business (mostly restaurants) profit and there just isn't the space for parking and the trucks
