eBrandon asks... Doug Paterson
2/17/2009 at 1:34 PM
I'm excited to introduce an innovative new feature to eBrandon this week aimed at bringing local personalities to you.
It's called
eBrandon Asks and the way it will work is a discussion just like this one will be started profiling a feature guest from Brandon/Westman. Over the course of the week, Brandonites will be asked to post their questions for that guest in that discussion. The following week I will choose five user-posted questions and record a casual video interview with that guest on behalf of eBrandonners.
Our first guest will be
City Councillor and Patterson Paterson Wyman and Abel partner Doug Paterson.
Some notes on Doug:
- Life-long Brandon resident
- has been the Assiniboine Ward's city councillor since 1998
- prior to his time on council, served eight years on the school board including time as board President
- past president of the Brandon Chamber of Commerce
- per his bio on Brandon.ca, "Some controversial issues such as the no smoking by-law, the Maple Leaf hog processing plant and the Keystone Centre are accomplishments that Councillor Paterson is most proud of during his time on council."
- was one of the stronger voices in Westman in support of what has become the soon to be enforced cell phone/driving law
- has been very vocal on Brandon and those outside of Winnipeg getting equal treatment to those inside the perimeter
- has been a vocal proponent of Brandon/Westman exploring wind energy solutions
- Practices law in the areas of civil litigation, corporate and commercial law, wills and estates, administrative law, banking and insurance
Please post questions you would like to have Doug asked in this discussion. If there's a question from someone else that you particularly like, please make sure you mention your support of it. I'll try to pick a combination of the most popular and most interesting questions. Then check back next week for the interview to see/hear Doug's answers and if your question was chosen!
