Suggestions for eBrandon...
12/27/2009 at 2:21 PM
I couldn't sleep last night, so I tried to occupy my mind by thinking of things I'd like to see on this website.
I know that Adam is a busy person, and I really appreciate the work that he has put into eBrandon. It is one of my favourite sites, and I'm only throwing a few ideas out there.
I've only been a member here for a short while, there may be features that I state below that I merely haven't come across yet....
eBrandon points:
Make them convertable, through corporate sponsorship, to gift certificates. A business such as Canadian Tire might be especially interested in this type of promotion, one eBrandon point equals one cent in Canadian Tire money?
Give eBrandon members the option to use a set amount of eBrandon points per day as a reward or tip for helpful posts, appreciated people, most popular pictures, etc....
If used in such a way, the number of points could be used to determine the most appreciated eBrandonite of the year, etc....
If eBrandon points had a value, then a click to donate widget could be set up to support favourite local charities.
Photo Suggestions:
A cropping feature would be nice, as would the ability to delete photographs and to edit captions.
A local photography studio might be interested in offering a link to eBrandon so that pictures posted on eBrandon could be printed to order with a click or two.
I notice that when you post a photograph to your profile, you have to post it again to have it show in a group. There is then duplication of photos on one's profile page. It would be nice if there was a way to link photos from your profile to a group without having to upload the photo again.
If there was a credit feature for the photographer then eBrandon could award points for the photograph of the year, and people could contact the photographer to obtain a print.
Miscellaneous:
A calendar of events would be nice....
A map feature that we could use to highlight areas of interest would be of great use....
I see that there are a few groups/people that are performing charitable acts. Perhaps charitable groups that are created on eBrandon could be promoted in a special way....
A Freecycling spot in the classifieds might go over well....
I would love some kind of game to play here that was exclusive to eBrandon....
Tying eBrandon into B.E.S.T. would allow for people online to be alerted during local emergencies....
A heavily moderated (University student might be interested in moderating?) debating forum might be entertaining....
A virtual museum of Manitoba could be created online. I can think of several people on eBrandon that would be able to contribute.
A 100-mile diet page featuring local food producers, would allow people to be more aware of their options....
Monthly and yearly prizes, even if only bragging rights, for best group, etc....
The ability to link blogs to groups might encourage longer articles, interviews, reviews, etc....
Allowing people to create a posthumous profile in advance would allow for future generations to know their predecessors. Something like writing your own history book entry....
A suggestion box might be useful....
Once again, I'd like to thank Adam and all the members of eBrandon who are making this such an interesting place to visit.
Thank you for your time and attention....
