Change made to address classified "over-taggers"
6/5/2010 at 10:21 AM
Hi all,
Just a note that a small change was made to the classified ad submission page to eliminate situations where people were abusing the classifieds tagging system by intentionally over-tagging their item (for example, someone posting a baseball glove and checking off tags for not only baseball but curling, hockey, football, soccer, etc etc despite the fact that it is obviously only a baseball item). It seemed to be only a small amount of people doing this, but it was just enough to make browsing some of the tag categories difficult.
As of this morning each category has a maximum number of realistic tags that it will accept. I was very liberal in setting how many tags per category would be accepted so it shouldn't effect anyone submitting an ad normally, but it will stop over-taggers in their tracks by not allowing the ad to be submitted if they're using an unrealistic amount of tags.
Thanks as always to everyone that has messaged me their suggestions over the years. It's those suggestions that have helped evolve the classifieds to the point they're at today!
