Classified search upgrades
11/4/2010 at 5:02 PM
Just a heads up for anyone that's a regular user of the classifieds...
I've just rolled out upgrades to the classified search functionality that makes use of eBrandon's unique ad tagging system in a way that allows you to further narrow in on what you're looking for.
As of now when you use the classified search box (located at the bottom of the main classified page or at the bottom of any particular category listing page), as soon as you pick a specific category to search within you will then be shown a list of several checkboxes for each of the tags associated with that category. For each box you check, your search results will only show results that match ALL of those checked boxes.
Where this is particularly helpful is if you are, for example, searching for a specific type of car. You can now select the "Cars" category, then check "Toyota", "Safetied", "Automatic" and "2006 or newer" to view all ads in which the seller has checked all of those boxes. It's also very handy for a category such as Baby & Child Items where if your daughter is between 18 and 24 months, you would check the boxes for both "Girls" and "18-24 months" and search to view all ads matching those two tags. In that situation, you would no longer have to fight through all of the ads for boys clothing when you're really only looking for stuff for your daughter.
As well, if you perform a basic keyword search using the box that's at the top-right of any eBrandon page, on the search results page you will have the option of being more specific with your search as far as the category and tags go and having the list it shows you further narrowed down to what you're looking for.
At the same time, I've added boxes for minimum/maximum price that will give you another way of performing a more specific search of Westman's largest classified marketplace.
Special thanks to Christopher who was at my office yesterday morning for "Take your Kids to Work Day" and helped out with the additions. Enjoy!
