We're contemplating going away for a month this winter...we need someone to check our home for insurance purposes. What is the going rate for such a service? Also...what are people in Brandon paying for snow removal for a month?

$20.00 a home visit.

We have our house alarmed with water sensor and low temperature sensor. This elimates the need for house checking but you will need a key holder. We also get a discount on our house insurace due to the alarm system. Talk to Ted at Summus at 204-571-2430. We are very happy with Summus.

I would rather have someone physically checking on my home because my sensors will not tell me that my freezer has konked out, the meat is rotting and it smells like death in my house. It would be nice to know someone is dealing with it before I get home. That's what happened to a friend of mine.

The use of alarm systems using sensors is a very good idea. I'd check with my insurance company before thinking it's all you need to comply with your policy though. We have clients that use these systems but also use our service. We are the key holders and are there to insure that the things not picked up by their system is also being monitored. Should a situation arise we can reach our clients, consult with them on actions they want to proceed with and act on their behalf to resolve an issue. These things have happened and the common reply has been, "thank goodness we have you there!!!"

last winter when we went away we used Good to Go Home Check. we were very happy with what they offered, we signed a contract that covered all our needs and thought it was reasonably priced, not to mention the piece of mind while away that our home was being looked after. Our mail was collected so that there were no signs of a vacant home and my plants were watered. No alarm system can do that! A flyer was left in our mailbox but you can find them on FB....well worth it in my opion
